Gwen Gallagher is a 6th year PhD student in Geophysical Sciences.  She studies marine microbes in the context of the global carbon cycle and is most interested in the intersection of environmental research, climate justice, and public policy.  She wants to translate research for policymakers to advance climate change resilience and environmental protection.

Grace Chesmore

Vice President

Grace Chesmore is a 4th year PhD candidate in the Department of Physics. She is an experimental cosmologist for the Simons Observatory Collaboration, studying the cosmic microwave background and focusing on millimeter-wave optics. She is interested in science diplomacy and hopes to use her skills as a researcher to inform policy and to shape a safe and equitable future.
Mark DiTusa

Mark DiTusa

Secretary

Mark DiTusa is a fifth year Physics PhD student studying polymer physics. Hailing from Louisiana, Mark is passionate about the environmental impacts of the oil industry and wants to promote clean energy, in whatever job he finds himself in the future. He is currently the SPG Secretary and helps run the NSPN Central Hub Journal Club and The Human Variable podcast for SPG.

Haynes Stephens

Haynes Stephens

Haynes Stephens is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Geophysical Sciences. His research focuses on modeling the impacts of climate change, particularly in the agricultural sector. He also study the impacts of large-scale climate intervention strategies to counteract global warming, also known as geoengineering. He’s interested in climate policy and the utilization of current science and scientists in the policymaking process. He is also interested in advocacy for greater scientific communication to the public, helping people become more informed about the science that impacts their lives.
